Not for the Faint of Heart aka Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

One thing I am going to do is organize this front room. I took all the boxes out that were empty, step one. Step two get help from my "Sleeping Beauty" daughters to carry them out. Step three work my fingers to the bones. It is a do or die situation ! LOL ........ not really, but I have to think of it that way.

Thank you for reading my blog,

Everything AND the kitchen sink

Well, I am finally tackling a wreath with vintage pastel goodies. I snapped a shot of the collection that is growing. I realized the kitchen sink is in the background. That is sort of how it works for me. The counter is a good height for my short squatty body....and the lighting is good. The main obstacle is I have to put everything away before the house fills up with the fam.......I must have..... I need..... I want.... MORE pastel goodies so I am headed out the door.

Lovely Crewel on Linen from the 70's?

Or Could it Be 60's???? I found this beauty and it was sort of dusty so I read all about cleaning these type needlework pieces and I opted to vacuum it and it worked great. I used the attachment meant for furniture. I could tell a big difference. I am learning as I go and that is what makes thrifting so fun!!

Aprons Abound

Wish I knew the creative soul who made these. They were in a box which had all belonged to a South Georgia Women. I think 15 in all. More to follow.

Very Vintage Antiques Mall & Gifts

Well, I don't know if anyone can relate but moving "stuff".....vintage treasures to me..... Is hard work. I am setting up my booth in Quitman Georgia and I am spinning around. Taking hundreds of treasure and making it all fit together is hard. I have a passion for Pink, but can go right to retro psychedelic in a second. I am trying to tell a story in my booth and I am officially having writers block!!!!!

Now onto a positive note I am bringing reinforcement today, my Mom....wish me well!!!!

Coolest Illustration of the Week

I thrifted some books lately....well I do that almost every other day.....This book called "Decorating with Color" by Carleton Varney has these hand drawn pictures with cool color combinations, it was printed in 1972. The above was one of my faves because of the pastel feel.

I worked on my booth in Quitman Georgia "Very Vintage Antiques" Carolyn Taylor is the owner and is doing a fantastic job getting the former furniture store ready to open.

More and more people are bargain hunting and it is a great time to start if you haven't. My husband calls it a down turn economy. I like that phrase, anyway now is a great time to thrift, even fashion is driven by the "Vintage Look". My teenage daughters wear a T-Shirt from Goodwill at least 3 times a week. I have gotten the hunt down to a fine art. I can pick them out, wash them and they wear them the next day.
Take Care,

Christmas Card Fun and Frivolity

I love old timey Christmas Card graphics. Old-Timey
adj. Having aesthetic or intrinsic characteristics that bring to mind things that are generally old-fashioned.

I found some today for just 75 cents and had fun looking at them. I decided to scan them.

All Things Fish

We went to the Atlanta Aquarium last weekend. It was spectacular. We bought tickets online and parked at the CNN Center and walked over through Centennial Park. It was a breezy sunny weekend. No thrifting was done so I will have to do some catching up.

Long Time

Wow Summer was a whirl wind and now school is in and things just seem to fly by!
I scanned the above picture today. As a result of getting Facebook and getting back in touch with college friends. I dug out a wedding picture that had two of my husband's fraternity brothers in it. I will get back to picture taking and blog hopping soon.
